A Career Built on
Since 1996, Dr. Kris Shewmake has been transforming the lives of his patients in his private Little Rock practice. Every face that comes through his doors is more than a patient — they are an individual seeking renewed confidence, and Dr. Shewmake has made it his life's work to help them achieve it.
His extensive experience with cranial and facial surgeries — including reconstructive work on infants with birth deformities — gave him a level of micro-anatomical precision that few cosmetic-focused surgeons possess. That precision translates directly into hair restoration, facial aesthetic surgery, and the surgical artistry that defines his practice.
Dr. Shewmake earned his medical degree from the University of Arkansas Medical Center, where he served as president of his class and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He spent eight years in surgical training — General Surgery at UAMS Medical Center, followed by a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery residency at the University of Texas-Southwestern in Dallas.
He completed an additional fellowship year at UCLA in Craniomaxillofacial Surgery, working with children and adults affected by facial birth deformities. Upon returning to his native Arkansas in 1992, he served as Chief of Plastic Surgery at UAMS and Arkansas Children's Hospital before opening Shewmake Plastic Surgery in 1996.
Today, Dr. Shewmake serves as Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery in the Division of Plastic Surgery at UAMS. He has presented and published numerous scientific papers in plastic and reconstructive surgery, and continues his education at the national conferences shaping the next generation of aesthetic and reconstructive technique.

A Surgeon, a Father, a
Dr. Shewmake is married, a father of five, and active in his church. He is the co-founder of Operation New Life — a surgical mission team that has served the poor in Honduras and taught at the local medical school.
When he is not in the operating room, you will find him flying — he is an avid airplane and helicopter pilot — or shooting, woodworking, or restoring cars when spare time allows.
